These terms are between you and Opia Prosper, an independent developer ("we", "us"), and govern your use of the Cairn iOS app. By installing or using Cairn you accept them. If you do not accept them, delete the app.
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use Cairn on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms. You may not copy, resell, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the app or any part of it.
Cairn is rated 17+ and is intended for adults. By using it you confirm you are at least 18 years old.
Cairn is a self-help tool. It is not therapy, not medical advice, not a diagnosis, and not a substitute for professional treatment. The in-app coach ("Rowan") is an artificial intelligence. It is not a therapist, a doctor or a counsellor, it is not supervised by one, and it can be wrong.
Never delay or disregard professional advice because of something in this app. If you are in crisis, or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line — the app's crisis resources are available with no subscription and no account.
Recovery outcomes vary. Cairn makes no promise about results and does not predict a quit date, deliberately.
The following require no payment and are not time-limited: your cairn and its stones, the daily check-in, journalling, relapse logging and debriefs, your recovery plan, one mission a day, and Emergency Mode — which is free permanently because it is a safety feature. Crisis resources are available without even opening an account, because there is no account to open.
The AI coach, journal search, and a view of the hours your urges tend to arrive. We may add to this list; we will not remove something you have already paid for without saying so in the app first.
Manage or cancel at any time in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or via the Manage subscription row in Cairn's own Settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. We cannot cancel it for you — Apple holds the billing relationship.
If you cancel, Premium stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then the app reverts to the free tier. Nothing you have written or earned is deleted when that happens.
Purchases are handled by Apple, and refunds are at Apple's discretion under the Apple Media Services Terms. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases ourselves.

What you write stays yours. You grant us only the narrow licence needed to store, encrypt, process and show it back to you, and to generate coach replies if you use the coach. We do not publish it, sell it, or use it to train models. See the Privacy Policy.
We aim to keep Cairn running but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Features may change or be withdrawn. If we discontinue a paid feature materially, we will say so in the app in advance.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cairn is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, and our total liability arising from these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep all statutory rights that cannot be waived.
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide support for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
These terms are governed by the laws of the country where we, the developer, are established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here limits any mandatory consumer protection that applies where you live, and you keep the right to bring a claim in your own country's courts where the law gives you that right.
We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified in the app before they take effect, and continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
